About the Presenter:
Sam Docknevich retired in October 2019 after a career with IBM and Siemens Building Technologies in the services and security fields. One of the aspects of his professional life that he found most fulfilling was the development of training programs and materials used in branches across the US. In 2020, Sam was appointed to the Hopkinton Council on Aging Board (HCOA). He parlayed his interest in training and personal development to oversee the local implementation of the national Age-Friendly and Dementia-Friendly Community Initiative through the HCOA. The initiative’s goal is to make communities safer and more nurturing places to live for seniors, people with dementia, their loved ones, and caregivers. Sam became certified as a Dementia Friends Champion in 2021. Joining the AARP Speakers Bureau was a natural extension of his work with this initiative and involvement with the Hopkinton Senior Center. In addition to his volunteer work, Sam loves home repair projects, photography, hiking the forty-eight 4,000-foot peaks in New Hampshire, and time with his first grandchild!
