Bill Gette has led three Mass Audubon travel programs to Ecuador's Galapagos Islands - one of the most amazing places on Earth. Charles Darwin's observations of the wildlife in this archipelago contributed significantly to his understanding of evolution. Bill will show you photographs of the nine islands he visited aboard the MV Evolution and the incredible wildlife he observed. He will take you on virtual hikes up the cinder cone on Bartolomé Island's to see the lunar-like conditions there, over the rope-like pahoehoe lava on Santiago Island, along tide pools to see Lava Herons hunting for Morey Eels, and through the highlands of Santa Cruz Island to observe Galapagos Giant Tortoises and the endemic Woodpecker Finch. Other animals of special interest will include American Flamingo, Galapagos Penguin, Flightless Cormorant, Galapagos Hawk, three species of endemic mockingbirds, Darwin finches, and Land and Marine iguanas.
The program is part of a series:
January 18 Jamaican Wildlife Adventure
February 15 Panama's Incredible Wildlife
March 21 Ecuador's Galapagos Islands
Please note that we have extended this series with Bill Gette to visit Bhutan, Botswana and Antarctica this spring and summer.
